Communication is all about the people and so is our organization. The American Communication Association (ACA) is a venue for communicators and
communicologists to connect. We are a place for professionals, academics, and students.
Through the use of our listserv and website, we attempt to share topics of interest and provide a space for some very tangible dialog.
This year will be a rebuilding year as many of our board has moved on and others have stepped forward to fill some big shoes. We are attempting to make
a very direct effort to define roles, rebuild our infrastructure with our journal, accreditation, yearly conferences, and better communication.
Strategic goal #1: Make ACA an organizationally viable, professional communication association.
- We would like to recruit members through other universities/colleges and professional associations.
- We are working on defining the scope and continuation of terms of the board members.
- We would like to see our group as a powerful influence as a professional organization.
- This year will be having a conference to reconnect with our members. Part of the conference will be held online for those who cannot make the trip.
Strategic goal #2: Build a network of communication resources accessible throughout the world.
- One particular resource is our online speech textbook.
- Another poweful resource is our web site and other social media like Facebook and the Yahoo listserv.
- The website will be reworked and more up to date.
- ACA accreditation is also a primary focus.
- The American Communication Journal (ACJ) is being updated and the editorial team is working on new issues.
