Vernon Cronen, Visiting Professor, Ph.D. University of Illinois, Urbana. He is Professor Emeritus University of Massachusetts. Vernon Cronen is co-author (with W. Barnett Pearce) of the communication theory, “Coordinated Management of Meaning” (CMM). He is widely published and has lectured and presented workshops in various countries. His research and teaching interests focus on the development and application of CMM theory in such areas as organizations, community groups, families and social relationships. His most recent work has focused on better integrating ideas about art and emotion into interpersonal communication. Extending CMM’s application to mass media and the social technologies are also priorities. CMM is a practical theory. Its goal is to create and teach ways of joining with others to promote new possibilities for coherent, creative communication.
